Travel to Exotic and Untouched Namibia, South Africa
A trip to Africa may just seem like a pipe dream to many of us…a world away full of a people so very different from who we are. Different cultures can be intimidating, but life changing at the same time. So why not really take that once in a lifetime vacation that allows you to experience a completely different world than you know?
The sheer enormity of the terrain will astound you

A trek through Namibia could paint an amazing picture of Africa for you: safaris, picnic lunches in the dunes, shipwreck excursions along Skeleton Coast, bird watching, experiencing the life of the Himba people, and boat safaris along the Kunene River. So much to do and experience, you’ll wonder why you didn’t take the trip sooner!

A ten day trip crossing Namibia could easily begin with a stay at Hotel Heinitzburg, which is something you’d never expect on the first day of your trek, a castle! Built by Count Schwerin in the early 1900’s, the hotel is quite the unique space by Namibian standards. The hotel gives you the ability to say “Yeah, our trip started off by a stay in a castle.” Not too shabby! From there, you could take in a nature reserve, such as NamibRand. The reserve is the largest of it’s kind in southern Africa, and possesses quite a unique ecology for the area. Within NamibRand, you can even take a hot air balloon excursion across it’s expanse to witness the wildlife from a perspective you won’t soon forget!

Visiting the Skeleton Coast will appeal to the adventurous pirate soul in us all, especially when you get to witness the shipwrecks in the area. There are over 1,000 ship hulls on the beaches along Skeleton Coast, which washed ashore due to the horrible, constant fog in Terrace Bay.

Just up from the Skeleton Coast you’ll come across the Himba tribe, who still live the lifestyle of the many generations that came before them. Witnessing their lifestyle and interacting with the Himba, a people far different from what you are used to seeing and speaking with on a daily basis, is an amazing thing to experience. There are different camps in the area, such as Kuidas and Kunene Camps, and each provides their own unique perspective into the lifestyle of the region.

There are still plenty of reserves to see in Namibia as well, such as the Onguma Private Reserve and Etosha National Park. Onguma actually sits on the edge of Etosha, and in the local language means “the place you don’t want to leave”. You can witness very unique animals within Onguma such as kudu, eland, oryx, and hartebeest. Etosha, once the largest game reserve in the world, contains a massive salt pan desert, which in summer is thriving with wildlife. A flora and fauna lovers delight, for sure.

If you’ve always dreamed of traveling to Africa and experiencing everything it has to offer, consider a journey to Namibia. Your life may forever be altered, in the greatest ways possible!
