Be a Travel Writer - with the World Nomads Vantastic Competition

7 teams, 7 legs, a lust for adventure and a touch of voyeurism!  WorldNomads.com has launched probably one of the most innovative travel competitions to hit the budget traveller’s community.    Take a video camera and its associated paraphernalia, and mix it with a team of two persons who are willing to capture their every adventure, with a fully kitted out adventure van (camping gear, laptop, editing equipment, wireless broadband access), be financially supported, and you have one hell of an awesome competition.  What a way to see Australia!

The idea is that the ‘Van-Tastic Adventures’ van will be on the road for 11 months starting in August, with each team covering a different state or territory, and sharing/posting their road trip adventures and experiences with the greater public by creating each week:

  • two videos,
  • two blog entries and;
  • 10 photos.

At the end of each team’s adventure, they will have two weeks’ free access to the nearest Global Gossip internet cafe to create a three to five minute mini-documentary about their ‘Van-Tastic Adventure’.  The documentaries will be posted on the WorldNomads.com website, and the team voted ‘Most Van-Tastic’ by the online travel community will win $10,000 cash and two Virgin Blue Domestic flights to the value of $500 each.

Entries have already opened for the first leg in Queensland during August and September.  Be prepared…. to apply, potential ‘Van-Tastic Adventurers’ will need to upload a two-minute or less video of themselves to the World Nomads group on YouTube, demonstrating their genuine lust for adventure, great personality, and ability to push way beyond run-of-the-mill holiday videos.

Applications for the first leg of the journey, which will take place in Queensland during August and September, are open from 11th May until 5th July 2009.

For more information on how to apply, and details about the seven legs of the journey visit http://vantastic.worldnomads.com
